The challenge:
What are your five favourite fics that you've written?

Include links so people can read them.

Make a new post with your answers so more people can see them. Writers are encouraged and expected to be self effacing and down on their work, and self-reccing is something people tend to sideeye. Which is pretty unhelpful - it encourages us to downplay the things that make us smile, and can contribute to some shitty thought processes. Plus, it means we don't end up sharing something that could make someone else smile. Some of the best fics I've read recently have been new links to old work that I've missed or read a while back and forgotten to return to. It's great to rediscover stories, and it's good to celebrate the things that make us happy. So meme?

I tried to limit myself to only five, and couldn't quite manage it. So here are my favourite eight stories (six from Transformers and 2 from TMNT) in no particular order. I think that these are very well written and I enjoyed writing them. And when I go back and read my own works, these are the ones I often come back to:

Title: Music Writing Meme
Rating: T
Series: G1
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Listed at the start of each fic-thing
Summary: Put your entire music collection on shuffle, hit play, and write. Write for as long as each song plays and move on to a different writing when the song switches (even if it's mid-sentence). Go for ten songs (or five). If nothing comes, it still counts. If you're listening to a comedian, you can skip it.
Warnings: Some have slash, some have fluff, some have anger and future violence

Disclaimer: Transformers belong to Hasbro and Takara, and are licensed to IDW and Dreamworks. My original characters are my own and any similarity between them and any existing characters from canon or fandom is purely coincidental. I claim no ownership by writing this work.

Author's Notes: This was snagged off of [livejournal.com profile] __wilderness__, though it’s been floating about LJ for a while.

... because I can and I'm way too tired to think about work.

Name meme

1. my username is________ because ________.

My username is Wyntir Rose because ... well, it's a long - and rather convoluted - story. See, I used to play in a Vampire LARP where I played a Toreador who went by the title of The Twilight Rose. This was around the time that I put together my FFNet account. I was going to go with Twilight Rose, but everyone and their mother was Twilight something then and I wanted to be original. Also, at the time I was reading some of the Star Wars series and Princess Leia's aid is named Winter, and I always loved the character and the name, but Winter Rose was just too normal so I decided to spell it differently so that it would stand out, and I just *love* what the letters "Y" and "I" do to a word. It's just so pretty! And the Rose just had to stay, since I love Roses so much, and one of my Pen Names is Lily Rose, so it's a common theme throughout. And then there's the fact that it's almost always winter in Ottawa, and it's one of my favourite seasons ... and I'm beginning to think that my handle should have been Bluestreak ...

2. my name is ________ because _______.

My name is Rita Lynn because my parent's wanted my first name to be the same no matter where I went. ... See, my family is Belgian (mostly) and my dad's work took us to Spain a lot. That exposed them to what different languages do to names.

My mom's name is Joan in English, Jeanne in French, and Juana in Spanish. My father, on the other hand, has problems with his name being grossly mispronounced. Jacques is pronounced kind of like Jack in French, but the British often pronounce it JAY-quees and the Spanish pronounce it HRA-kes. No, I'm not kidding.

They didn't want that for their kids, so I became Rita, since it is Rita no matter where you go. And Lynn is because it's pretty.

3. my journal is titled ______ because __________.

My journal is titled "In the Mind of an Anachronism: the life and times of an armchair antiquarian" because that's what I am. I was born into the wrong era (and class). I would have fit in nicely with the upper class women of the late 1800s who were fighting for suffrage. These were women who blazed the trails for today's women, enabling them to be whatever they want. When I was a child I always wanted to be an early Archaeologist ... If it had been out at the time, Evelyn from the Mummy series would have been my role model. I am forever trapped in the late 1800s, and hence, I am an anachronism.

4. my friends page is called ______ because ___________.

My friends page is called "Fellow Scribillarians" because I like the term. See, I'm an avid reader of the Douglas Preston-Lincoln Child series, and the reporter character (Bill Smithback) is referred to as a Scribillarian at one point in "Cabinet of Curiosities". I've loved the term ever since I discovered it. It's so ... antiquated!

5. my default userpic is _______ because _________.

My default userpic is a Victorian era botanist's drawing of a Christmas Rose. Why? Because a Christmas Rose is a Winter Rose, of course! And it's just so pretty!

Though I have to say, I really am considering finding a Bluestreak pic, because I have been chanelling him for a while now!

I hate to say it, but I think it's pretty accurate ... except for the bit about impartial justice versus mercy. Those two things aren't exclusive from one another ...

My Personality
Openness to Experience
You are poised, confident, and clear-thinking when stressed, however you are sensitive about what others think of you. Your concern about rejection and ridicule cause you to feel shy and uncomfortable around others. You are easily embarrassed and often feel ashamed. Your fears that others will criticize or make fun of you are exaggerated and unrealistic, but your awkwardness and discomfort may make these fears a self-fulfilling prophecy. You tend to feel overwhelmed by, and therefore actively avoid, large crowds. You often need privacy and time for yourself. Familiar routines are good, but sometimes you like to spice up your life with a bit of adventure or activity. You do not like to claim that you are better than other people, and generally shy from talking yourself up, however you are not affected strongly by human suffering, priding yourself on making objective judgments based on reason. You are more concerned with truth and impartial justice than with mercy. You take your time when making decisions and will deliberate on all the possible consequences and alternatives.

Find Out Which Disney Girl You Are!
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Mulan

A free spirit, a beautiful soul, all things that most people would tag on a lovely girly girl - but you're more boy than anything! Sometimes you're considered a 'nerd' or 'dork', but that just comes with the package - you even embrace your inner nerd. Go you!

Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

Snow White

Well this is kinds cool I always did like Mulan. As far as I'm concerned it was one of the first good Disney movies in a long time (yeah, I'm an old school fan), and Mulan was a fantastic heroine.

But, now here's a question that'll sound slightly odd perhaps. Who the heck is Violet? She's a character I don't recognize. Unless they're talking about Violet from "The Incredibles"? ... Oh, right, that was Disney/Pixar wasn't it ... okay, never mind ...

After you die...
Guardian Angel

After death, you will exist as a guardian angel in order to protect your still-living loved ones. You might even inspire a classic Christmas movie.

Take this quiz at QuizGalaxy.com

Well that's not bad. I was hoping for poltergeist, but, let's face it, I don't have it in me. Yeah, I could handle eternity as a guardian angel ... as long as I don't have to spend all that time watching "It's a Wonderful Life" ... "The Bishop's Wife", maybe, but not "It's a Wonderful Life". At least "The Bishop's Wife" has Cary Grant in it. Not that I have anything against Jimmy Stewart. He was yummy in a folksy kind of way, but I can only take so much of Bedford Falls - when given a choice of Stewart films, "Harvey" wins every time *goofy grin*. Now, Grant, on the other hand, is just all around yummy in everything he does! Especially when he plays confused ... Hmmm, must go find my copy of "Arsenic and Old Lace" ... and find a copy of "She Done Him Wrong" (Cary Grant and Mae West FTW!).

Yeah, I told you I was too sick to be coherent.

You are breakfasty, like a pile of pancakes on a Sunday morning that have just the right amount of syrup, so every bite is sweet perfection and not a soppy mess. You are a glass of orange juice that's cool, refreshing, and not overly pulpy. You are the time of day that's just right for turning the pages of a newspaper, flipping through channels, or clicking around online to get a sense of how the world changed during the night. You don't want to stumble sleepily through life, so you make a real effort to wake your brain up and get it thinking. You feel inspired to accomplish things (whether it's checking something off your to-do list or changing the world), but there's plenty of time for making things happen later in the day. First, pancakes.

1) Grab the nearest book. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy).
2) Open the book to page 123.
3) Find the fifth sentence.
4) Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5) Tag five people.

Taken from The Devil in Babylon, specifically the chapter on the Eugenics movement in the late 1800s/early 1900s.

Your Score: Fennel

You scored 50% intoxication, 0% hotness, 100% complexity, and 50% craziness!

You are Fennel! You're a cool cat. Crisp, clean, fresh, and extremely complicated. You're like quantum physics or modern jazz. Think Niels Bohr meets Ornette Coleman. You may look normal now, but once you sprout, you look kind of, uh, funny.

You know, I have come to like fennel over the years. Yeah, I think I can happily live with this.

Character Meme!
1. Choose a few of your own characters. Five at the most.
2. Make them answer the following questions.
3. Then tag three people.
4. Feel free to go ahead and add some questions yourself!

As for tags, since I don't know who has OCs and who doesn't, I'll leave this up for grabs :)

This was borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] amethystlight, and I think I did it once before, but that was with my old MP3 player. Considering my taste in music, this could be interesting. ... or really, really strange.

If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be? Here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button

Cue the Music! )

And strange it is!

Yeah, uhm, no. Prank comedy is the lowest form of comedy, second only to prop-comedy. I prefer my comedy clever, slightly dark, and about as dry as my martinis.
