I had intended it in the second way, though that wasn't my original intent. You can interpret some of Smokey's lines in Regrets as him hitting on Jack, and then there's the whole capture scene in this one (I rewrote it slightly and now it can be interpreted that Smokey was copping a feel).
I do intend to keep all of the Vignettes title in this universe, so we may very well see some Smokey/Jack, especially if Ratch doesn't clue in. ... He might though, I'm just not sure yet.
