I was bitten by a bunny a few weeks ago. It was the prompt: Your OTP switch bodies for some reason and no one knows why". I decided to play with Ratchet and Smokescreen, told from Ratchet's POV and dealing with Ratchet not being able to deal with the new sensory input. And it's funny but the entire thing has turned into a giant mind screw. I mean, I have lines like:

Ratchet turned to the spy and immediately froze. He was there across from him, Mirage straddling his waist, pressing a hand to his mouth to silence him.

and:

“Your processor’s seizing,” Smokescreen said calmly, somehow managing to modulate Ratchet’s voice in a way that he hadn’t realized was possible.

And I haven't even gotten to any potential sexy scenes which will probably result in Ratchet deciding that he really isn't turned on by the idea of 'facing himself.

It's all around strange and I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better served by writing all of this is the first person - possibly even the first person present tense - to make things a bit more insane.

And then the unthinkable happened. Megatron found the Combaticons in their prison and revived them, forcing them to become Decepticons and unknowingly reopening wounds thought long closed. But those old wounds and that ancient bond may be just what’s needed to end the war as everyone has known it. Pity that some people prefer the status quo and others are unwilling to put aside old grudges for long enough to take advantage of the opportunities presented. Ratchet had always recharged lightly. Even before his time as an intern he would online at the slightest sound. It was a habit that served him well in his personal life as well as with the Autobots. He didn’t want to think of the number of times the Terror Twins tried to break into his quarters to “cheer him up” after a particularly bad battle. Waking up at the slightest sound always helped in not getting surprised on those nights.

It was the soft moan that brought him out of recharge.

“Smokey?” Ratchet asked as he propped himself up on one elbow.

The Praxian had rolled onto his back, pressing his doors uncomfortably into the padding of the berth. His face was twisted in what could only be described as pain and pleasure all in one. He moaned again, arching up into an invisible touch, but his face was a mask of pain and fear.

I really need to break away from depressing fic and not try to write in the IDW-verse. This is random, unedited, and written in less than an hour. But it's writing and it's a start. This is kind of sort of a sequel to Smokescreen Leaves the Lost Light.
