New Job ... maybe
23 August 2004 08:35I heard from the agency that never calls me back. Apparently Customs is looking for someone to do data entry for six weeks. At this point I'll take anything. My savings are running low and I have bills to pay ... I was rather surprised when the agent asked me what she could say about me personally to sell me ... I've never been asked that before for a temp position. Usually 7 years experience is enough. My agent said that she'd call me back today or tomorrow, but I'm honestly not holding my breath. This is the fourth potential position that I haven't gotten. I'm guessing that the employers went with a different agency, since they all make offers and the lowest gets the contract.
Still nothing on the military job. It will be two months on the 28th and they still haven't filled the position. ... I hate bureaucracies ... apparently the problem is that one of the two positions is bilingual imperative and they are running french testing ... you wouldn't think it would take two months.
After looking at the www.jobs.gc.ca site I have to wonder what happened to all of the promised jobs. Economists, Legal Council, Web Engineers, Analysts, Technicians, Nurses. The only jobs I have any hope of getting are in Kabul, and I don't think I want to move to Afghanistan. ... in fact, I know I don't want to go there.
