Disturbed night
24 May 2005 13:50The wind was howling like a banshee outside my window last night. Who knew that it got so windy in Barhaven (other than the folks who like in Barrhaven).
The problem seems to be the golf course, the fact that we have no houses immediatedly around us, and that we are on a bit of a rise. Regardless of the cause, the wind picked up something fierce last night, blowing loose topsoil and sand about. Actually, I'm guessing at that last bit. I know that there is dirt, because it ends up in my house, but I'm not sure about the sand. Theoretically, the good folks at Stonebridge would keep their sand traps covered at night, but I know nothing about Golf except it makes about as much sense as Cricket to me.
Either way, I ended up getting very little sleep last night, even though I took a sleeping pill. Listening to the noise past my windows and the clatters on the roof, I can understand house haunted house stories get started. And I become very glad that it was only high winds last night and not a major storm.
