I'm just having no luck. Electronics are dying all around me, and quite dramatically, I might add.

First my home office lamp died. I turned it on and it fizzles and sparked and popped, then began to smoke. Turns out the light bulb blew (stupid bulb). And it is so weird looking, I have no clue where to find a new one. I'll be going to a lamp shop this weekend.

Then, the touch lamp in my room died. It won't turn on, and when I do manage to get it to turn on, it won't turn off ... It is two years old, but it's still a stupid lamp.

And now, last night, my monitor died. The image on the screen lost horizontal, then started fizzing, and the monitor started to smoke. It smelled of burned rubber, and the replacement monitor won't show an image past the boot-up screen ... stupid monitors ...

I wouldn't mind so much if it weren't for the fact that I was applying for a really good job with Border Services at the time. And, of course, I can't apply at work (there is nothing wlse to do), because the stupid Defence firewall won't let me access the government jobs website. How idiotic is that?

I'm a little frustrated ...

Today I present you with an old Northern Italian recipe for a sumemr time Pasta and Cheese.

It calls for Fromaggino, an Italian cream cheese-like product that comes wrapped in foil (like Vache Qui Rit -- y'know, Laughing Cow cheese). Its really only available in specialty Italian places, but can be replaced with a strong soft cheese, like Camembert or, ideally, Gorgonzola.

Pasta Burro con Fromaggino (Pasta with Butter and Cheese)

1 lb. Penne Rigate
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
1/2 c. shredded Romano Cheese (dried Romano will have a gritty taste and texture)
2 tbsp. Fromaggino

1. Cook the pene according to the package directions.
2. Drain the pasta, but be sure to keep at least 1 cup of cooking water.
3. Put the pasta into a large serving bowl with a small amount of the pasta water (about a half-cup).
4. Add the Romano and the Fromaggino, and allow the hot pasta and water to melt the cheeses.
5. Mix well and serve immediately.

Makes up to 8 servings (more if your really frugal)
