16 December 2005 12:01I got into work at 10:30 this morning. I left the house at 8, after having cleaned and scraped my car. I got to Fallowfield station at 8:30. I waited and waited for a bus because the station was packed and only short buses were coming. Finally a long 95 showed up and I was able to get on the bus, after some jackass tried to push me under the bus -- the driver told him to take off. I like that driver.
Then I spent an hour and a half on the bus. Lots of accidents. Traffic was being rerouted downtown, and apparently a long bus jacknifed at Lebreton Flats. At Lebreton, the driver advised us to get off teh bus and walked, that it would be faster, since it was likely going to take him an hour to get past Lebreton.
So I disembarked and walked past the snarl-up. I caught another bus at the Adult High School and made my way to Esplanade Laurier.
*whew* It's noon and I'm exhausted, sore, asthmatic, tired, sleepy, hurting, arthritic, wet ... I think you get the point.
And the thing that gets me, is that drivers were being good, very careful. It was the pedestrians who were assholes. I saw people dart in front of cars, I saw people jaywalking, and I saw people pushing and shoving (sometimes pushing people into the road). ... In this weather, I would give the utmost space and respect to the cars. They can't easily stop and they way several tons more than you do. Let's do the math shall we?
