It's been a tired week and a tired weekend.

I don't know if it's exhaustion or if I'm fighting a bug, but I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck. But illness is no reason to stop working, so I trudge on through. Anyway, though, no more complaints.

I got the last of the Christmas stuff down on Saturday. The tree was undecorated and the tree was dismantled, the village was taken apart and packed up, the nutcrackers were put away and the lights were taken down. The poor cats took the whole thing badly. They had been using the tree as a hiding place, so when the base was put away the poor dears looked like they were in shell-shock.

Cats: Why is the tree gone?
Me: Christmas is well over, babies. We put the tree away.
Cats: Yes, but WHY is the tree gone?

They just stood there, all three of them, staring at the place where the tree once stood, sniffing the ground and looking confused. So of course, the dog decided that this was the perfect opportunity to pounce. It didn't go over well. Poor sweeties. I'd feel sorry for the dog and his boxed ears, but by this point he should know better than to sneak up on all three cats at the same time. The cats don't tend to get along, unless there's a rousing game of "Chase the Puppy" going on, which inevitably turns to "Beat on the Dog".

Sunday was spent working on my crochet. I'm almost done with twin victorian afghan. It's taken a bit longer than anticipated, but since it's the largest piece I've worked on, I can't really complain. I'm hoping to have the squares completed and stitched together by the weekend. The plan is that I'll be able to start my mom's piece next week. It's a smaller piece (a lapghan rather than an afghan) so it shouldn't take too long ... mind, I said the same thing about the piece I'm working on now. I'll post pics to DA once I'm done. The colours are little bizarre (burgundy, sage, and a cranberry confetti veriegated), but they work quite well, though they are a little dated. I had one friend describe it as victorian, while another said it was very 1950s.

My next planned project, for some point in the future is a couple fillet crochet pillows with the Autobot and Decepticon symbols on them. Fillet crochet is a type of lace, but I do in in yarn rather than thread, so it shows up nicely. I'm looking at red and gold and black and purple. I'll have to find or make some black and white symbols and then draw them onto graph paper as a pattern. ... It'll be the first time I've made up a pattern.
