Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] finnyb. Hey, if she can randomly show up on my journal, then I should get to randomly glomp cool memes from her!

I'm terza rima, and I talk and smile.
Where others lock their rhymes and thoughts away
I let mine out, and chatter all the while.

I'm rarely on my own - a wasted day
Is any day that's spent without a friend,
With nothing much to do or hear or say.

I like to be with people, and depend
On company for being entertained;
Which seems a good solution, in the end.
What Poetry Form Are You?

And apparently if I was not Terza Rima, I'd be Blank Verse:

I am, of course, none other than blank verse.
I don't know where I'm going, yes, quite right;
And when I get there (if I ever do)
I might not recognise it. So? Your point?
Why should I have a destination set?
I'm relatively happy as I am,
And wouldn't want to be forever aimed
Towards some future path or special goal.
It's not to do with laziness, as such.
It's just that one the whole I'd rather not
Be bothered - so I drift contentedly;
An underrated way of life, I find.
What Poetry Form Are You?

Hmmmm ... Nope, I think I like the Triolet best. I think it suits me a bit better than the Terza Rima. Though I could be Blank Verse if I had to be.

If they told you I'm mad, then they lied.
I'm odd, but it isn't compulsive.
I'm the triolet, bursting with pride;
If they told you I'm mad, then they lied.
No, it isn't obsessive. Now hide
All the spoons or I might get convulsive.
If they told you I'm mad then they lied.
I'm odd, but it isn't compulsive.

I spent yesterday at home sick for part of the day. It was either heat stroke or a minor bug, but either way, it meant that I didn't head into work.

I tried to sleep but they were putting in a retaining wall next door, and boy were they loud! And so, I sat on my chair with my kitten and watched "The Day The Earth Stood Still". You know, I had forgotten just how good that movie actually was. ... and then I decided to look it up on IMDB because I couldn't place one of the actors (Patricia Neal). It turns out that they're remaking it for a 2008 release ... I just don't know what to think. It was a classic and more than likely Hollywood will ruin it just like they do with most of those old classic remakes.

I mean, those old classics rely on the script to be good because they had no special effects to speak of. Now though, these movies are all glitz and glamour with no substance. This was the exact reason why I refused (and still refuse) to see the King Kong remake. I know people say that I'm missing out, but I'll take the 1933 version with Fay Wray and claymation over Naomi Watts and computer animation any day. And the same thing applies to the remake of Clash of the Titans scheduled for 2010.

Yeah, I'm an old fuddy duddy. But there is just something that these old films have that the new ones just don't. And, yes, I know that Clash was '81, but it was done by Harryhousen and that man is a genius.

And it's not that the new movies don't have appeal. I just prefer the older ones. ... Hmmm, maybe this weekend I'll go to the other end of the spectrum and watch "Day of the Triffids".
