29 June 2007 10:51It shall be a long day today. Since Canada Day falls on a Sunday this year, Mondy is the holiday. This means that today is dead at work. Everyone who had annual leave took it so that they could have a four day weekend. Honestly, I can't blame them. I'd've done the same if I could have. Instead I am in the office, and I will probably spend the day writing. Reading The Devil in Babylon: Fear of Progress and the Birth of Modern Life just isn't doing it for me today. As facinating as the Red Scare and the Winnipeg General Strike is, it's just not keeping my attention today, and I won't skip ahead to the sections on prohibition, Henry Ford, flappers, and Mae West.
Nope. I will try (emphasis on the word try) to get Chapter 10 of LAD completed and posted, and then get back to Metamorphosis. The rest of the weekend will likely be spent writing and entertaining the animals. I'll be visiting a friend on Saturday and bringing Huntly to the dog park on Sunday with my sister-in-law and her new cockerpoo puppy, Jasper. Hopefully Huntly behaves himself. He's been very territorial of late. It's odd because he has always had an omega personality, but lately the den-mother is coming out and he's been very activly protecting the house and everyone in it. Having Mom and Dad out of town isn't helping matters any either. On these soccer weekends he acts like they've disappeared and will be gone forever.
In reality, they're just off in Toronto at the Robby tournament. They arrived just before the blockade went up. Dave, on the other hand, will have to get into TO by way of Peterborough. Hopefully he makes it without any problems. Not only do his kids need him, but he has my dad's meds. Dad ran out of the house on Thursday and forgot his sleeping pills, his gout medication and his arthritis meds. He'll certainly survive without them, but he'll be a mess.
So, yeah, that's the weekend ...
