... Okay, so it's Plane Porn. But it sounds better as Jet Porn ...

I present to you the first of the Jet Porn taken at the United States Aviation Museum during Botcon. Sorry about the quality of some of these pics. It's rather dark in some of the hangars and my camera (while it tried hard) is not of the highest quality.

So far I've uploaded about half of my shots and I will write descriptions for all of them soon.

1. my username is________ because ________.

My username is Wyntir Rose because ... well, it's a long - and rather convoluted - story. See, I used to play in a Vampire LARP where I played a Toreador who went by the title of The Twilight Rose. This was around the time that I put together my FFNet account. I was going to go with Twilight Rose, but everyone and their mother was Twilight something then and I wanted to be original. Also, at the time I was reading some of the Star Wars series and Princess Leia's aid is named Winter, and I always loved the character and the name, but Winter Rose was just too normal so I decided to spell it differently so that it would stand out, and I just *love* what the letters "Y" and "I" do to a word. It's just so pretty! And the Rose just had to stay, since I love Roses so much, and one of my Pen Names is Lily Rose, so it's a common theme throughout. And then there's the fact that it's almost always winter in Ottawa, and it's one of my favourite seasons ... and I'm beginning to think that my handle should have been Bluestreak ...


2. my name is ________ because _______.

My name is Rita Lynn because my parent's wanted my first name to be the same no matter where I went. ... See, my family is Belgian (mostly) and my dad's work took us to Spain a lot. That exposed them to what different languages do to names.

My mom's name is Joan in English, Jeanne in French, and Juana in Spanish. My father, on the other hand, has problems with his name being grossly mispronounced. Jacques is pronounced kind of like Jack in French, but the British often pronounce it JAY-quees and the Spanish pronounce it HRA-kes. No, I'm not kidding.

They didn't want that for their kids, so I became Rita, since it is Rita no matter where you go. And Lynn is because it's pretty.


3. my journal is titled ______ because __________.

My journal is titled "In the Mind of an Anachronism: the life and times of an armchair antiquarian" because that's what I am. I was born into the wrong era (and class). I would have fit in nicely with the upper class women of the late 1800s who were fighting for suffrage. These were women who blazed the trails for today's women, enabling them to be whatever they want. When I was a child I always wanted to be an early Archaeologist ... If it had been out at the time, Evelyn from the Mummy series would have been my role model. I am forever trapped in the late 1800s, and hence, I am an anachronism.


4. my friends page is called ______ because ___________.

My friends page is called "Fellow Scribillarians" because I like the term. See, I'm an avid reader of the Douglas Preston-Lincoln Child series, and the reporter character (Bill Smithback) is referred to as a Scribillarian at one point in "Cabinet of Curiosities". I've loved the term ever since I discovered it. It's so ... antiquated!


5. my default userpic is _______ because _________.

My default userpic is a Victorian era botanist's drawing of a Christmas Rose. Why? Because a Christmas Rose is a Winter Rose, of course! And it's just so pretty!

Though I have to say, I really am considering finding a Bluestreak pic, because I have been chanelling him for a while now!
