Wow. That is idiotic. And something that had slipped under my 'stupid government BS' radar.
But in Canada, this is unfortunately all too common. Instead of educating people or dealing with the root cause for the incident, folks in the Canadian government (Federal and Provincial) get 'ban happy'.
Safety legislation is different from nanny-state legislation. I don't want either government butting into my life to a degree where they infringe on normal day-to-day activities and basic freedoms. Though this is the fault of a lot of voters as well. There is always a vocal group that /demands/ the government do something. And the government in question normally goes 'meh, what will people miss the least'?
