I have decided to talk about [livejournal.com profile] ultharkitty. It's quite likely that most of you have seen her work around, but in keeping with the challenge, I will tell you why I love her work.

I HATE sticky fic and for a long time I was of the firm belief that there was nothing that anyone could say that would change my mind. And then I read Ultharkitty's works and they changed my mind. And I think that's entirely because her works are just so very well written. The characterizations are perfect and she manages to make even the most psychotic of character (I'm looking at you, Vortex) relatable and likeable without turning them into woobies.

I would particularly suggest the following (though all her stuff is wonderful):
- On His Knees -- Ritual combat between Onslaught and Motormaster for the amusement of Megatron and Starcream. This one is short and to the point, and a lovely example of how to write hand-to-hand combat well.
- First Times - Prowl's mentor hires a high prices prostitute (Smokescreen) to teach Prowl about the birds and the bees. As mentioned above, I dislike sticky, and yet this story makes me question my decision on that. Great characters, great set up, and totally believable.
- Corruption - Ah, Corruption. I love dark fic. No, I adore dark fic, and this one is just beautifully written. The Autobots have lost the war and First Aid believes that he's the last of his kind. It features Stockholm Syndrome (and possibly some Lima, depending on your view of it), mental torture, reprogramming, and all around horror, and it works really, really well. And this is another one of those stories that makes me want to change my view on sticky.

And then there's her little plushy transformers. These are beyond adorable and make me want to try and make TF toys again.

So, yeah, if you don't know Ultharkitty's work, please, go check it out!
