Day 11
Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing or trope. Try creating a different kind of fanwork. Or check out some types of fanworks that are new to you. (The recs from Day 1, Day 3, and Day 9 might be a good place to start!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it.
This will come later. I just need to actually finish the little Avengers (movieverse) drabbles. The gist of them are a series of little 100 word fic ... okay 100-ish word fics set in the first movie between the time of the the team getting separated and their arrival in New York.
Day 12
In your own space, talk about what you think the future holds for fandom. What are your hopes and dreams for fandom? Do you have any predictions about what the next five years holds for fandom? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
his is hard. There is a large part of me that's tempted to say that Transformers has no future. I mean, every time we get a new tv series Hasbro goes and cancels it just as it's getting good, and Bay keeps on getting the movies instead of a good director. And whoever's writing the scripts needs to be locked into a room with all the old episodes and the comics because he clearly has no knowledge of the canon) ... okay, mini-rant over. Now that I have that out of my system, I'm sure that the TF fandom will keep going for a long time. We'll have ups and downs, we'll have more "Trukk not Munkey" arguments, and Drift will always be a sore spot for a number of fans, but come the next tv series or movie things will go back to the status quo. I also am wondering if we're not facing a bit of a lull at the moment. Prime was cancelled, the new movie is still a year away, the new comics are kind of "meh" at best. It's a lull and that'll likely change as soon as FunPub announces their theme for this year's Botcon.
As for TMNT ... Gotta say I don't know. I'm kind of on the periphery of that fandom. I'm only just now slogging through the new series and the upcoming movie was handed to Bay (at least he gave up on the idea of them being 3 aliens who ride motorcycles, though I can see why someone would mistake Ninja Turtles for Biker Mice From Mars *rolls eyes). And the new comics are ... You know, Transformers tried to combine all the various canons into one back in the Pat Lee years and it didn't work for them. It won't work for TMNT either regardless of IDW's wishes.
And I think that's all I'm going to rant about today.
Day 13
In your own space, talk about setting yourself a fannish goal. Big or small, it doesn't matter. Some great examples include: complete a bingo, sign-up for a Big Bang, write that fic you've been thinking about for years, podfic that story that you love, make a fanmix for your fandom, post that bit of meta or reclist you keep postponing. Maybe resolve to be better at leaving feedback, or answering comments. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I seriously need to finish my works in progress. That's my goal for this year. The Polyhex Candidate needs to be completed, Return to Darkness needs to be completed, and I need to edit and rework The Devil You Know and get it reposted. I also have a ton of bunnies and partially written things on the back burner, but for right now, those three stories are my priority.
