I have come to the conclusion after following a rather bizzare argument, that I hate the concept of a retcon. I will admit that I find just about everyone's comments quite facinating and enlightening, but the initiator is starting to remind me of various Star Trek trolls that I have come across in my various wanderings. I will never understand the people who sit there with the guidebooks open on their laps spouting:

"Yes, but episode 42 of season four's comic adaptation says that ..."

And then, when you point out that their interpretation is not quite right, they spit out the word: "RETCON".

I hated retcons when I ran the Ottawa Vampire LARP and I hate them now. Why can't we just live with the past canon that has been created and stop trying to create new canon to tie all the old canon together -- Gee? Could I have said cann any more times?

Well, I think that I will tie a string around my finger to remind me to keep out of the rest of this discussion. THere are others who are far better at proving their points than I, and I have the feeling that I may devolve into just calling people names. SO best I stay out of it ... no matter how dumb I think some comments might be.

I hear ya Rose. I like reading everyone else's ideas but that "someone" makes me want to hit them with a hammer. And I'm dangerous with a hammer. Just ask my left hand. ;D

Yes, that "someone" is reminding me terribly of another "someone" from earlier this year (only a tad more eloquent). ... I wonder if there will be a flounce in the near future or if people will finally just start ignoring what's being said?

I think you've hit it perfectly. I really admire the folks who are going toe to toe with him and keeping it totally civil. It reminds me of some Victorian-style Parlour debates I once had the opportunity to watch. I've already lost my temper and had to pull out for fear that I will start name calling, and I won't do that to him.

I'm glad to hear that Nighty's enjoying herself. She is indeed a woman of impressive depth. The whole thing has been very enlightening (if a little frustrating).

But you are right. If he did say that, it would change the entire tone of his posts. But currently, he sounds offended we haven't taken him as the gospel truth of TFs.

Glad someone is enjoying the show. I'm only reading other people's posts on it now and then only skimming.

heh.... 100% agreement, here. I mean, some retcons I'm fine with, but this "certain someone" is really starting to drive me up the walls, too. ^_^;

As Frosty said, even a simple "my opinion" here or there wouldn't have provoked such a huge kerfluffle. As someone else said (I forgot who x.x), we wouldn't be arguing so much if he wasn't so rigid and dogmatic. x.x

Ah well. Stepping back a little, I can laugh at it... and if you guys are enjoying yourselves, that's great. XD
