I have no luck

I want to start by saying that I'm not whining and I'm not complaining. I just can't scream at work, what with being surrounded by many men with guns ...
Still no luck on the inspector. We finally got a copy of the report and, as suspected, it's full of crap.
- There is no leak in the tank, but there is some rusting on the tube leading into the house.
- The flashing on the chimney is not leaking, though the weather repellent on the bricks may be worn down.
- There is no lining in the chimney because our house is 50 years old and is grandfathered.
- He can't find the air return into the furnace ... funny how the Esso people know where it is.
The people will take the house at the original price, if we fix these things. Fine, we'll do the tank (that is important) and we'll do the chimney (that, too, is important), the rest can't be fixed as they are not broken!
And as the days get worse, I discover that the lady who hired me did not go through the proper channels, so I am here illegally and finance doesn't want me here anyways because there are cheaper agencies. If I get to stay, I will likely have to take about a week or two unpaid off while they figure out their paperwork. The chances are that Finance will win.
And as my luck is running away, my brother has managed to schmooze his way into getting the bank to give him a mortgage (he and his fiance are only teaching part-time, and only just got their jobs). My parents are footing the down payment.
I am seriously beginning to hate my life.
