We are all moved in. I am using the computer of my father and it does not allow for commas. It turns them all into E with an accent.
The movers were very professional. They moved us out even though it took a truck and a half and it was hailing.
We did run into a few problems once we got in. First, the delivery guys showed up from Sears with our new appliances and we learned that they did not do installations, even though we had paid for installation. So we called Sears and were told that someone would come on Wednesday between 12 and 5. Fine we said. The refridgerator was plugged in and we were having a seperate person come in for the gas stove, so we could live without the microwave. We were then told that we would have to pay for the installation of the washer and dryer because they are front loaders and have to be level. Fine, we will pay for that too.
So, Thursday morning rolls around and we wake up to find a note at our door. It says that the Sears guy came at 8, no one was here so we will have toreschedule. Then at 9 the Sears stove guy comes to our door, and my mom proceeds to ask why he came at 8 when he was supposed to be here at 10 and he says that it was not him. We call Sears and discover that it was the guy to install the rest of the appliances, we had been double booked. Meanwhile, the stove guy is waiting but cannot do anything because the kitchen guy has to come to cut a portion of the counter top out to fit (the stove is a slide-in). We call Delaurier (the kitchen people) and discover that the receptionist rescheduled us for 3 pm and did not bother to call the alternate number we provided when she could not get us at our non-existant home number. So they agree to send someone over withing 45 minutes, and the Sears guy is finew with this and he goes off to help someone else int he neighbourhood and leaves us with his cell number. Half an hour later, the Dalaurier guy shows along with the stove guy and the appliance guy. So finally everything is installed.
It is at this point that we discover that the phone at 96 is still active. We call Bell and find out that they have our cancellation as October 28th. So that is now fixed but I am really tired of dealing with incompetent people.
All our boxes are in the basement and about the house as we move in. We have internet (as you can plainly see), but we do not have cover plugs on the ethernet cabling so only this computer works. We still have no phones. Bell tells us that we might only be waiting six weeks since we are on the priority list. Right now I hate bell and all of its subsidiaries (sorry Feli). Working by cell phone is a pain in the ass.
The cats are reacting well to the new place, though Tika does not want me out of her sight for long. They both love the deck. It is the first time they have been outside off of a leash. We had fun getting them out of the hotel they were staying at. There was a guide dog convention in the lobby.
The dog is seriously stressed out. We have no grass, so we are bringing him to the golf course to do his business. At least I am getting exercise out of this. Huntly is acting like if he lets my mother out of his sight, she will disappear forever. He is a poor little boy.
We are looking at major work in the new house. We need to put up privacy curtains, and buy new things like toilet brushes and shower curtains. That all gets done today and tomorrow. Then it is back to work on Monday for a week, then I am off and will continue to unpack.
Well, that is it for me. Back to work I go.
