August Update

wyntir_knightIt's August so I suppose that I should do something that resembles an update. I don't have a whole lot to say and not much planned.
1. I am still working on my planned Fallout 4 walkthrough fic. I'm still in the plotting stage, but I already think that I am going to step a little sideways with this one. It seems that I have two choices: either ignore most of the quests and the relationship building in the game so that I can focus on getting back Shaun (because really, the Sole seems to do everything but find their son), or have both parents survive. Now, yes, I know that this game is intended to be a revenge thing, but there is just too much for one person to do. I'm also changing the female sole survivor's job. A lawyer is wonderful, but it doesn't explain how she is just as good at everything military as her husband it. So, Nora is now a JAG lawyer rather than a civilian lawyer. The fact that some of the dialogue refers to the sole as "he/him" regardless of which character you choose makes it abundantly obvious that you are supposed to be playing Nate and not Nora. And I hate that. With a passion. So, I will have both parents being former military, both having different skills, and together they are going to take over the Commonwealth. I am even planning on playing with some of the cut story lines and concept art. If I can get it written, it should be good.
2. I know that I should get back to my Transformers WIPs, but I just can't get my brain to work with them right now. Like complete and total writer's block. I am, however, having several flashes of inspiration for a humanformers/Marvel crossover fic that I want to try my hand at. And I want to try something a little different with this one. A while ago James Roberts tweeted that the gender of the holoavatar represented the gender of the Cybertronian. My take on this is that mechs like Cyclonus are female and are male gendered because of a limitation in Cybertronian. All Cybertronians have male pronouns regardless of gender just like all Camniens have female pronouns regardless of gender. And since all Cybertronians are effectively hermaphrodites gender isn't really an issue for them. This will become an issue though, when they arrive on earth and find themselves stuck in an organic version of their holoavatars (probably thanks to one of the many reality warpers in Marvel. I want to play with all of the organic side effects that other authors gloss over -- and, yeah, I know, they gloss over that stuff because no one wants to read about shaving and body odor and hair in various places and cycles. But seeing as this fic will probably never see the light of day anyways, I'm going to play with those things anyways.
So I know that IDW gave some of the characters canon holoavatars, and I am going to try to stick with those. The ones who don't have any are going to be made up and I'm going to try to be diverse in my selection because save for Jazz, it seems that almost all humanformer fics have the characters as white (I like the idea of Mirage being a Bedouin prince). I might also play with the idea of gender fluidity since the characters can't just change their holoavatar anymore. It'll be good practice for trying to write such things respectfully.
So that's the plan for August. working on two monster fics and practicing my writing, because that's likely all these will be. A writing exercise. It seems that the Fallout fanfic community is mostly interested in PWP and the TF community seems to be moving in directions that I can't easily follow since BDSM is more than a little triggery for me, so I don't think I could ever write it. And I don't know enough about IDW to write in that verse.
