Today, I am glad I have a car. I will be even more glad come July 2010 when a regular adult bus pas is going to cost 90$/month. This is to cover gas and to put more of the burden on the riders.

Looking at OC Transpos recent history, I seriously doubt that they will be using this money to increase service or reinstate ParaTranspo. Nope, all they are going to do is continue to descriminate against the elderly and invalid, and those who live in the country suburbs.

I do have to wonder, what happens when one of those new lowride buses (2, 85, 95, 97) is packed and a person in a wheelchair needs a ride? Does the driver ignore him or does he kick off the sitting riders? I wonder what the policy is on that.

OC Transpo has admitted that they will loose riders over this. This means more cars on the road, when folks are going on about air quality. And it's not just the SUVs that are to blame on that. A good number of sedans now have v-6, v-8, and even v-12 engines! Do you grasp how much gas those use? And this after OC Transpo makes such a big deal of how they are the environment friendly alternative. Not so much if people don't use your services.

Of course, that's another rant entirely ...

Apparently, we are now too stupid to be able to lower the water temperature coming out of our taps. Water has to be heated to 150 degrees celcius to keep the bacteria at bay, but now the Ontario government has mandated that the water coming out of tap cannot be any hotter than 120 degrees celcius. This requires us to install a valve on all fawcetts that lowers the temperature. Now here's the rub: the valves cost over $150 EACH (plus installation and taxes). This is all, allegedly, caused by the fact that some seniors have been scalded. The story going around is far more interesting, however. Apparently all of these valves are being made by one company. Now here's the question, is the owner of the company a friend of someone in parliament? Do note that not State in the US and no Province in Canada has legislation like this.

Is it really so difficult to make our own decisions and our own mistakes? Do we really need the state to be a bunch of nannies? I do agree that there have to be safety legislations put in place. After all, we can't have stoves exploding and baby carriages flipping over, but water temperature?

How far are we going to go? Will they mandate how hot I can make my food? I might burn my mouth after all. Will they mandate what type of clothes I can wear? After all, I might be allergic to wool or get a sunburn.

Honestly, do they really think that we are morons? And why are these idiots who are complaining being listened to? My water burned me because I could be bothered to turn on the cold. My food burned me because I can't because I can't eb botehred to blow in it.

I mean honestly.

And now, since the gun registration worked so well, they now want us to register our horses with a 15 digit registration number. They want a tag put on the horse's ear. This is the same group that allowed a man to register his drill as a gun.

I'm starting to see why aimisdirty is always so ranty ...
