Stories for a winter's night

Today my contract with Treasury Board comes to an end. It's been nice working for these folks, though I'm amazed that they were able to function without an administrative co-ordinator for so long, these poor folks seem to be great at their jobs but have very little clue how the daily stuff gets done. I've spent the last week training the new girl, and she should work out just fine.

I was pleasantly surprised when they threw me a goodby party today, as a "thank you for being so competent". They've also asked that I keep in touch and let them know what I'm doing next.

EDIT: I just heard from my agency. I start my new job on Monday with Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. ... err ... make that Tuesday. Either way, it still means I'm going to Providence!!!!!

We finally got the house decorated for Christmas yesterday. Our aim had been to get everything up the weekend of December first, but with illness, that didn't happen.

So yesterday we pulled the tree out of storage and reassembled it, found all the bins of ornaments and lights, got the Christmas Village put together, hung the stockings fromt he chimney with care ... you get the idea.

The cats are in a full on state of wonder at what we've done for them. Logan has been trying to pull the stockings down, Keegan had discovered that if you hit the ornaments they move, and Tika has found the perfect sleeping place. The middle of Santa's village. It was like a scene out of an old Godzilla movie. Amazingly, she didn't break anything, or she hadn't as of this morning. Of course, it's only a matter of time before the boys see her and decide that she's found the best seat in the house.

I can't wait to see how they react to the presents once we get them out and wrapped. I love my kittens dearly, but they don't have very good memories. Every year it's like it's their first Christmas.
